ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont company has purchased an old grain mill in St. Johnsbury that it plans to turn into an industrial hemp processing facility.

The deal for the E.T. & H.K. Ide property was finalized this week, the Caledonian Record reported.

Zion Growers bought the property from the Ide family, which has owned it for 131 years and ran a successful grain and feed business there, the Caledonian Record reported.

Cousins Brandon McFarlane, CEO of Zion Growers, and Chief Operating Officer Travis Samuels told a group gathered to celebrate the deal on Monday that it took a team to get to the point of buying the property and it will take a team to get the hemp business operating.

“Hopefully you will continue to support us, and hopefully we can live up to the expectations that all of you have set for us and we expect of ourselves,” Samuels said.
