The Linn County Treasurer’s Office is closed to walk-in customers until further notice due to a staffing shortage caused by COVID-19 cases and exposures.
The office will reopen when staffing levels are “adequate for operations to be open to the public,” according to a county news release.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we navigate through this difficult situation,” the release states.
A white drop box is available outside the Public Service Center, located at 935 Second Ave, SW, for anyone needing to drop off payments, vehicle registration renewals or any other paperwork, the release said.
Vehicle registration renewals and property taxes can also be paid online at Iowataxandtags.org.
Last November, the office closed in the afternoons only due to staff being absent for “COVID-19-related reasons.”
Earlier this month, the county began to require masks in its public facilities once again.
