Work is being done at 870 Fairmount Ave., Ellicott, to convert the former Cattaraugus County Bank location into a dentist office for Southern Tier Dentistry.
P-J photo by Gregory Bacon

A new dentist office is coming to the town of Ellicott.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from April 11-20.

During that time period, Cattaraugus County Bank sold 870 Fairmount Ave., Ellicott to Mitchener Realty, LLC of Falconer for $700,000. This was CCB’s former location. The bank moved to 284 E. Fairmount Ave.

Work is being done on the property. According to Ellicott officials, Dr. James Mitchener, DDS is opening another location of Southern Tier Dentistry. He has a location in Falconer and is in the process of opening another location in Lakewood.

In a separate West Ellicott sale, 600 Fairmount Ave. was sold to 225 Enterprises, LLC of Jamestown for $497,000. This is the former Hollyloft Ski and Bike business.

Owners Les and Cheryl Johnson announced in The Post-Journal that they were closing Dec. 24, 2020 after 42 years in business. No announcement has been made for what the location will be used for in the future.

There was a third business sale in West Ellicott as well. Gap Enterprises of WNY LLC of Jamestown sold 679 and 663 Fairmount Ave. to Thomas Turner for $150,000. This is the former location of The Art of Flavors, a Mexican Restaurant.

On Facebook, the restaurant owners posted a gofundme link in July saying that one of the managers was dealing with stomach cancer.

Gap Enterprises of WNY LLC has purchased and sold other property in the past.

Another closed area restaurant was sold as well. 522 E. Second St., Jamestown was sold to Reliance Enterprises VI, Inc. of Jamestown for $110,000. This was the location of A Taste From Above. Signs in the windows show it sold pizza, wings, subs and strombolis.

The largest business sale during this time period occurred in Fredonia. Church Street Holdings, LLC of Fredonia sold 33 Church St. to 33 Church St. LLC of Jamestown for $825,000. This is known as the Fenner Fire Station, where the fire department used to be located. The building currently houses the restaurant Dupers, Express Employment Professionals, HBKS Wealth Advisors, and Salon Belle Vie, a full service hair salon.

In Westfield, two downtown locations were sold.

Ogden Newspapers of New York, Inc. of Wheeling, West Virginia sold 39-41 East Main St., Westfield to John and Suzanne Mckay for $125,000. This is the former location of The Westfield Republican, which is now operating out of The Post-Journal’s office in Jamestown. In its place is a new antique business called Suzanne’s at Overton.

Michelle Jungquist and Billy Miller sold 19 N. Portage St., Westfield to RC Design and Development, LLC of Mayville for $165,000. This is the previous location of The Living Room Wine and Cheese Bar.

Also, S and P Johnson, LLC of Ashville sold 2 E. Main St., Panama to Hammond Family, LLC of Sherman for $60,000. This is the location of Crouch’s Garage. In April, the owners announced the sale of the business on Facebook, saying the business was sold after 40 years.
