Over the last few years, Reese Witherspoon’s real estate holdings have been frequently in flux. She owned a mansion in Pacific Palisades, a bucolic farm in the Malibu foothills and a country estate out in Ojai, though all three of those homes have been sold off. And about three months ago, the “Legally Blonde” star-turned-media mogul bent and snapped out of her sprawling Brentwood estate, selling it for $21.5 million to a Hot Pockets heiress.
To replenish her portfolio, records show Witherspoon has spent nearly $28 million in the first half of 2022 acquiring at least four new homes — one in Los Angeles, and the other three in or near her native Nashville, where she and her family live part-time. All but one of those deals were inked quietly off-market, and the properties were never publicly offered for sale, so images and details are somewhat scant.
Witherspoon already owns several Nashville-area homes, some of which are reportedly occupied by family members. But it appears she and longtime husband Jim Toth are eager to spend more time in the area, as they’ve paid a whopping $18 million for an estate in a prime pocket of town. Set on nearly four flat acres, the property was custom-built in 2020 by the sellers, subprime auto loan kingpin B. Michael Shivers and his wife Margaret.
Per tax records and aerial views, the gated estate includes a nearly 15,000-square-foot main house, a separate pool house, full-size tennis court with a covered viewing pavilion, vast expanses of grassy lawn and a spoon-shaped swimming pool. There are also dozens of trees surrounding the leafy estate, which is close to parks and charming shopping and dining destinations. The Shiverses paid $2.7 million for the land in 2017, after which they demolished the much smaller house that previously stood on the property.
