Ludhiana: Municipal town planner (MTP) of Ludhiana municipal corporation S S Bindra, his two sons and restaurant staff were booked for attempt to murder after they attacked an investment adviser and his guests during a party at his restaurant on Friday night. Few guests were injured in the attack and were rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The investment adviser alleged that the accused assaulted them with iron rods and bottles and also held them captive. Acting on the complaint of Anirudh Garg, 35-year-old resident of Rajguru Nagar, the Sarabha Nagar police booked S S Bindra, his son Puneet Bindra, nephew Gurkirat Bindra and managers of Baklavi Restaurant at South City road Pawan and Manoj.
Garg said he had organised a party at the restaurant owned by Bindras on Friday night for the investors and invited 70 guests. After the party was over, the restaurant staff added some extra charges in the bill. When objected, the accused held them captive and assaulted them, he alleged.
The injured included Anirudh Garg, his father Rajnish Garg, guests Arush Jain, Karan Goyal, Parvesh, Sanjiv Mungia. Garg was rushed to the DMC Hospital.
Sub-inspector Jaspal Singh, who is investigating the case, said an FIR under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act has been lodged against the accused at Sarabha Nagar police station. No arrest has been made yet.
In a statement, Manmeet Singh Bindra, co-owner of the restaurant, said few guests, who were all drunk, started abusing my staff and my managers. Later, they threw plates and assaulted the restaurant staff.
